š„½ AR & VR Weekly ā Googleās XR Headset Leaks!
Edition: February 26, 2025
Whatās up, future explorers? š Big news just droppedāGoogle is secretly working on a new XR headset to take on Apple Vision Pro & Meta Quest.
Yep, Googleāthe same company that killed Google Glass & Daydream VRāis back in the AR/VR game. š¤Æ
The question is: Will they finally get it right? Or is this another overhyped flop? Letās break it down. š
š¶ļø Googleās XR Headset ā What We Know So Far
š¹ Mixed Reality (AR + VR) in One Device
This isnāt just VRāitās full spatial computing, meaning youāll see digital overlays in real life just like Apple Vision Pro.
Unlike Googleās old AR/VR projects, this one wonāt need a phone to run.
š¹ Powered by Qualcommās Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2
Same chip as Meta Quest 3 = better graphics, hand tracking, and eye tracking.
Rumored to support hand gestures & spatial controls (no controllers needed).
š¹ Google + Samsung = A Powerful Team-Up
Google is handling the software (Android XR OS).
Samsung is building the hardware.
If Samsung nails this, Apple Vision Pro might finally have a real Android competitor.
š° Will It Be Cheaper Than Apple Vision Pro?
Apple Vision Pro? $3,499 (Ouch šø)
Meta Quest 3? $499 (Not bad š)
Googleās XR headset? Probably in the $1,500 - $2,000 range.
If Google keeps the price low and the features high, they could dominate the Android XR space.
But⦠if they overprice it and underdeliver, we might be looking at Google Glass 2.0 (a.k.a. another disaster).
ā” The Big Debate: Will Googleās XR Headset Win?
š¬ Would you buy Googleās new headset?
ā Yes! Android XR is finally happening!
ā Nope. Google always kills its projects.
š¤ Maybe⦠if it has killer features.
